Needle Felting       Needle Felting is a fiber art, which the artist sculpts and paints with fibers creating 3-D figures using loose wool and a special barbed needle. It is a very old art dating back over 200 years. First, you roll core wool to the desired shape and using the special barbed needle, you poke the wool to lock the fibers in place. Next, you needle felt over the core with dyed and carded colored wool. It is your preference whether you want your item to be hard or soft. The more you poke the harder it becomes. Wet felting is done with loose wool and hot soapy water. In wet needle felting, you may create flat pictures as well as 3-D items over an armature.
